2010
CALIFORNIA REGIONAL EVENT
On
August 27, 2010 at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Sacramento
our five California semifinalists vied for their chance to compete
in the final Foster Farms Fresh Chicken Cooking Contest event. These
five semifinalists’ recipes had been selected from nearly
2,000 recipes but only two would move to the next stage.
The
five semifinalists and their recipes were:
Megan
Bailey of Monterey
Pumpkin Seed and Wild Rice Chicken Fajitas
Alexandria Boswell of La Jolla
Spinach
Stuffed Chicken Breasts
Sandra Keefe of Fullerton
Black
Orange Pekoe Chicken Breasts
Vee Lark-Williams of Los Angeles
Crispy
Feta Chicken Croquettes with a Mandarin Orange Sauce
Rebekkah Leber of Hayward
Panko-crusted
Lemon Butter Chicken with Israeli Couscous Salad
Each
recipe was prepared and presented to a panel of three judges: Niesha
Lofing of The Sacramento Bee, Adrienne Bankert of KCRA,
and Georgeanne Brennan of the San Francisco Chronicle.
The judges truly had a difficult job selecting the top two dishes
from the five tasty recipes. In the end though, Alexandria Boswell
and her
Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breasts and Rebekkah Leber and her Panko-Crusted
Lemon Butter Chicken with Israeli Couscous Salad emerged victorious.
The
two regional winners each received $1,000 and a trip to California’s
Napa Valley to compete in the final event for a chance to win $10,000
and a one-year supply of Foster Farms fresh chicken. Wondering who
ended up winning the grand prize? Check our final
event to find out!
