RULES AND REGULATIONS
1.
Contestants
- The
Foster Farms Fresh Chicken Cooking Contest is open to all residents
over the age of 18 ONLY in the following states: California, Oregon
and Washington.
- A
total of 15 semifinalists, 5 from each state, will be personally
notified by phone and in writing that their recipe has been selected
and that they are invited to compete in the regional event hosted
in their state of residence. Semifinalists must be present at
the regional contest in order to be eligible to win. (Regional
contestant transportation to and from the event and one night
lodging will be paid for by Foster Farms.)
- From
the regional level, 6 finalists, 2 from each state, will be selected
during the regional event and invited to compete in the final
contest in Northern California in September 2012. Finalists must
be present at the final contest in order to be eligible to win.
(Final contestant transportation to and from the finals and one
night lodging will be paid for by Foster Farms.)
2.
Promotion
- As
part of the contest, winning contestants agree to participate
in the promotion of their recipes (media interviews, website interviews,
etc.) at no additional compensation.
3.
Call for Entries/Recipe Submissions
- Entries
(you may submit more than one recipe, please submit separate entry
forms for each unique recipe) may be submitted via the Foster
Farms website www.fosterfarmsandnewmansown.net/cookingcontest,
by email at cookingcontest@fosterfarmsandnewmansown.net
or by mail to Foster Farms, Cooking Contest, PO Box 306, Livingston,
CA 95334. Online and emailed entries are due by 11:59:59 PDT on
June 3, 2012. Mailed entries must be postmarked on or before June 3, 2012.
4.
Recipe Requirements
- It
is a contest requirement that all recipes entered must use locally-grown
Foster Farms fresh (raw) chicken: a whole chicken, or any part
or parts; or ground chicken. The use of fresh, local and natural
ingredients inspired by your state or region are encouraged wherever
possible.
- All
recipes must make 4 to 8 servings of chicken.
- Grilling
recipes will not be considered.
- Recipe must be able to be prepared – start to finish – 1.5 hours or less.
5.
Restrictions
- Employees
of Foster Farms or immediate family members of Foster Farms employees
are not eligible to participate. Previous grand prize winners
of the Foster Farms Fresh Chicken Cooking Contest are not eligible
to participate.
- Recipes
must be original and not be published in any public forum ("original"
is defined as not previously published in the same or substantially
the same form). Contest semifinalists will be required to certify
in writing that their entry is "original.”
- All
entries become the property of Foster Farms. Entry constitutes
permission to edit, modify, adapt, publish, promote and otherwise
use the recipe in any way without compensation.
- Recipes
that do not follow recipe requirements will be disqualified.
- Contest
void where prohibited by law.
6.
Judging
- Semifinalists’
and finalists’ recipes will be selected and judged by panels
comprised of culinary, poultry industry and food media professionals.
- Semifinalists
will be notified by phone and in writing in July 2012. Finalists
will be notified in person at the appropriate regional event.
- Judges
will make decisions based on: taste, use of fresh/local/natural
ingredients, appearance/appeal, simplicity/ease of making and
originality.
7.
Prizes
- 15
semifinalists receive $100 upon notification of being a semifinalist.
- 6
regional winners receive $1,000 and a trip to the Napa Valley
to compete in the final event.
- One
grand prize winner receives $10,000 plus 104 vouchers (valued
up to $10 each) that are redeemable for packages of Foster Farms
fresh chicken at participating locations.
- Taxes
on prizes are the responsibility of winners.
