- How
do I enter the contest? Do I need to submit an entry form?
Entries may be submitted via the Foster Farms website,
by email at cookingcontest@fosterfarmsandnewmansown.net
or by mail at Foster Farms, Cooking Contest, PO Box 306, Livingston,
CA 95334. Formal entry forms will be accepted but are not a requirement.
- When
do I have to enter by?
Online and emailed entries are due by 11:59:59 PDT on June 3, 2012. Mailed entries must be postmarked on or before June 3, 2012.
- What
are the contest rules?

to view formal rules and regulations. Contest void where prohibited
by law.
- Do
I need to use all local ingredients?
All recipes entered must use locally-grown Foster Farms fresh
(raw) chicken. While the use of other fresh, local ingredients
is strongly encouraged, wherever possible, it is not a requirement
that every ingredient is fresh, local and natural.
- What
types of chicken products can I use?
It is a contest requirement that all recipes entered must use
Foster Farms fresh (raw) chicken: a whole chicken, or any part
or parts, or ground chicken.
- What
does a “one-year supply” mean?
The winner of the final competition will receive 104 vouchers
(valued up to $10 each) that are redeemable for packages of Foster
Farms fresh chicken at participating locations.
- Is
there a limit to the number of ingredients used?
There is no limit on the number of ingredients allowed but ease
of preparation is a consideration in the judging.
- Can
I submit a photo of my recipe?
We prefer that you do not submit photos. Photos of your recipe
entry are not a contest requirement and will have no bearing on
the results or selection.
- How
many servings should my recipe make?
All recipes must make four to eight servings of chicken.
- I
live in Hawaii. Can I enter?
The contest is open to all residents over the age of 18 ONLY in
the following states: California, Oregon and Washington.
- How
do I prove that my recipe is “original?”
Recipes must be original and not be previously published in any
public forum. ("Original" is defined as not previously
published in the same or substantially the same form.) Contest
semifinalists will be required to certify in writing that their
entry is "original.”
- Who
will be selecting recipes for both the regional and final competitions?
Semifinalists’ and finalists’ recipes will be selected
by judging panels comprised of culinary-, poultry industry- and
food media professionals.
- If
I win, will I be preparing my own recipe at the regional and final
competitions?
All semifinalist and finalist contestants must be present - and
prepare their entry - at the applicable contests in order to be
eligible to win. (Transportation to and from the event and one
night lodging will be courtesy of Foster Farms for contestants
participating in the regional and final events.)
- If
I win, do I have to participate in the media promotion following
the competition?
As part of the contest, winning contestants are required to participate
in the promotion of their recipes (media interviews, photos, retail
promotion, web site interviews, etc.) at no additional compensation.
- If
I participated in the National Chicken Cooking Contest or as a
finalist in a previous Foster Farms Fresh Chicken
Cooking Contest, can I still participate?
Only the previous Foster Farms Fresh Chicken Cooking Contest Grand
Prize winners are not eligible to participate.
