Raising animals humanely isn’t a new concept at Foster Farms. It’s been a part of our values since 1939. And it’s a value we share with you. That’s why we are proud to be certified by the American Humane Association – one of the nation’s leading animal welfare organizations that has been at the forefront in protecting farm animals since 1877.
For more than 135 years, the American Humane Association has been dedicated to the idea that all animals, including those raised on farms and ranches, are entitled to humane treatment. The American Humane® Certified program provides third-party, independent verification that a certified producer’s care and handling of farm animals meet the ethical, science-based standards established by the American Humane Association. Certification doesn’t happen in a day. The audit is comprehensive, covering 200 separate items including diet, living conditions and natural behaviors. To achieve certification, Foster Farms verified that humane conditions are maintained on our farms and ranches 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Family owned and operated since being founded by Max and Verda Foster in 1939, Foster Farms has become the most trusted poultry company in the western United States. But even as we’ve grown, we've always stayed true to our founding principles of integrity and product quality. Today, third-generation family member Ron Foster serves as CEO and ensures that tradition continues.
