Essential Job Functions
1. Evaluate industry and market activity, trends, and competition: Identify opportunities, threats and recommend new concepts to be explored as potential product or category introductions.
2. Participate in the development of objectives and strategies for new products recommend plan/budget in support of approved marketing objectives and strategy.
3. Manage the development of product positioning, copy development and media plans provide direction to the advertising agency for all activities affecting new product launches including developing and implementing consumer and trade promotions conducting on-going analysis of the effectiveness of the advertising, media plan, etc.
4. Provide strategic direction to R&D and Operations for the development of concepts into prototype products. Guide R&D in product development, cost effective alternatives screening of alternatives and developing product into final production configuration.
5. Guide and coordinate packaging development for new products and packing refinements for newly introduced products.
6. Maintain schedule for all new product development projects, making revisions as required provide bi-weekly status report on all projects being tracked.
Requirements
1. Bachelor’s degree and MBA.
2. Five-ten years experience in brand management.
3. Knowledge and experience in new products development and market introduction(s).
4. Preferable to have experience in a company with a classical marketing approach.
5. Experience with commodity products meat, ideally chicken or turkey process preferred.
6. Strong interpersonal skills.
7. Knowledge of sell-in merchandising activities that support new product introductions to the sales force and retail accounts.
