Tuesday, May 21, 2013

Foster Farms is initiating a voluntary recall (Class II) of its Grilled Chicken Breast Strips (with a “best if used by date” of June 22, 2013) due to the presence of undeclared soy and wheat allergens. Class II recalls are classified by the USDA as representing low risk for adverse health consequences. No reports of illness have been associated with these products. No other Foster Farms products are affected. This product was sold at retail stores.

This recall only involves six-ounce tray pack packages of Grilled Chicken Breast Strips produced in Porterville, Calif., and distributed to retailers in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. The product was incorrectly packaged for a short period of time during one day’s production. As a precaution, all Grilled Chicken Breast Strips produced that day are being recalled, totaling 1,370 cases (6,165 pounds).
