Congratulations to Alexandria Boswell of La Jolla and Rebekkah Leber of Hayward
8/27/2010
SACRAMENTO – Californians Alexandria Boswell and Rebekkah Leber today were named Regional Finalists in the California Regional Finals of the first-ever Foster Farms West Coast Chicken Cooking Contest held at Le Cordon Bleu in Sacramento. Each of these Regional Finalists won a $1,000 cash prize and will now compete at the Finals in person on September 17, 2010, at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, in California’s Napa Valley. A $10,000 grand prize and one-year supply* of fresh Foster Farms chicken will be awarded to the contest’s grand prize winner.
During today’s Regional Competition, judges Adrienne Bankert, anchor on KCRA-TV Niesha Lofing, contributor to The Sacramento Bee and Georgeanne Brennan, feature food writer for the San Francisco Chronicle, selected Boswell’s Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breasts and Leber’s Panko-Crusted Lemon Butter Chicken with Israeli Couscous Salad as their top picks based on their recipes’ use of fresh, local ingredients, including Foster Farms locally-grown chicken. Boswell and Leber beat out more than 2,000 home, amateur and professional chefs residing in California, Oregon and Washington who submitted their prized, original chicken recipes for consideration. Recipes featured fresh Foster Farms chicken and were inspired by local ingredients as a testament to Foster Farms’ commitment to foods that are fresh, locally-grown and always natural.
“These recipes really caught our eye,” said Ira Brill, director of communications for Foster Farms. “Both Alexandria and Rebekkah were able to pair great-tasting chicken with ingredients central to California cuisine in their recipes. We look forward to hosting them at the finals in just a few weeks.”
