Strategically positioned within the geographic triangle formed by Tuscaloosa to the north, Mobile to the south and Montgomery to the east, Demopolis is the gateway to the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway System.

Offering many recreational opportunities, local residents particularly enjoy boating and fishing on 10,000-acre Demopolis Lake, which was created by the construction of the Demopolis Lock and Dam.
